Having Cancer is an emotional trauma for anyone. Testicular Cancer brings its own emotional baggage for a man, after all, it is his masculinity that is affected. Here, we discuss what they are and how you can help. |
The testicle is perhaps a man's most valued physical attribute. The sense of loss, when one is removed is deep, and very frightening. It is as though he is no longer a man. He feels abnormal. He fears women will not want to know about him. He is concerned about the possibility of never being able to father an offspring in the future. He tends to be convinced that no-one can possibly understand what he is going through. Above all, he tends to be frightened for his life. All of this can make life extremely difficult for his loved ones. They are forced to sit helplessly whilst watching a man go through a form of self torture. Like a dog, a man tends to isolate himself and "lick his wounds" until he is better. The question most often asked by supporters of men who have TC is, "What can I do to help?" |
